Progress Report (And A Contest!)

Yes oh yes, this week has been going good for writing. Not only did I complete the editing for the Dark Sky sequel, Midnight Sky, I completed and sent in another short story that I'm feeling good about. It was a lot fun to write, and will hopefully be accepted into the collection. I've also begun the final proofing for Cursed: Demon's Daughter, as well as the paperback formatting for Path of the Horseman. While the whole thing is unbelievably frustrating, I'm hoping to have both finished and proofs on their way soon. I still expect a June release for and Cursed: Demon's Daughter a July release for Path of the Horseman.

In the meantime, I'm still working on Amber Sky, the first novella in the Dark Sky series. I've been working on it for a while (and you can read snippets here and here), I'm hoping to have it completed soon. I've been in a steampunk mood thanks to prompts and fantastic books like this one, and I have to say that I want to keep the streak going.

Having said that, I'm finally ready to begin the giveaway I've been mentioning for about a month. I recently read one of my two contributor copies of Avast, Ye Airships! I left my thoughts on Goodreads (though I wasn't a hypocrite and didn't review my own work), and I think a lot of steampunk fans will enjoy it.

I decided to keep the contest fairly simple: All you have to do is leave a comment on this post about your favorite element of steampunk– the fashion, the technology, the romance, the way it meshes with fantasy and horror elements, whatever is honest and true! While the judging will be random (I'm gonna close my eyes and scroll the page while pointing my finger at the screen after I read the entries), there could be bonus points for whoever has a kind word or two about my standalone novel, Path of the Horseman. Again, not a requirement, but it would be nice to get some feedback as I continue to wait for reviews to come in.

So there you have it! The contest will run until May 28, so feel free to spread the word!

  1. My favourite part of steampunk? I love the technology, the fact that is it real and hands on in a way that virtualized computer technology isn't! I'm a sucker for brass!

  2. I am just getting into this genre (actually because of you!) and am in love with the delicate elements...the intricate designs of floating houses to the elaborate and purposeful designs of accessories.
