Monthly Goals: October

October is one of my favorite times of year. When we do get fall in Canada (I'm still not convinced we have more than summer or winter most times), I love the smells and sights of fall, the cool breezes, Caramel Apple Spices... and Halloween, of course.

This month is All Hallows Read, a perfect opportunity to give someone a horror book. Admittedly, I've never done it before, but you can expect some horror reviews from me, and tons of support for this brilliant idea. And hey, if Neil Gaiman is telling you it's important during the zombie apocalypse, who are we to ignore his wisdom?

I'll obviously be promoting my own paranormal horror stories: Call From The GraveNeedfireCharlatan Charade, and my upcoming horror releases: Dark Intentions And Blood as part of the AMOK! anthology, Hotel Hell as part of the Death's Cafe series, and Secret Suicide as part of the That Hoodoo, Voodoo That You Do anthology. I'm super excited that all of these short stories will be coming out in October– tons of Halloween reading will be done! I'm very excited for Dark Intentions And Blood, which I recently received an Editors Award for! My short was chosen based on "suitability to the theme, author voice, world-building and general bad-assery." Hooray!

In other news, now that I've finished the rough drafts of the Cursed series, I'll be taking some time to go back and edit out parts that it turned out I never needed. I'm hoping this won't take very long, since I'd like to send Cursed: Demon's Daughter to my editor before the end of the year. At the moment though, I'm working on the third Areios Brothers novel, Faithless Hunt. There were some hiccups with the story, but now it's flowing smoothly. I can't believe how much I missed writing these novels, though I still can't decide if I want to self-publish them or not. It's the easiest option, though I would love to see Derek and Liam's adventures on the shelves.

On a final note, I've finally, definitely, absolutely decided on what my NaNo novel will be about. I have an idea that is not only unique, but that I love with every ounce of me and can visualize. That was the game-changer for me– I can't write a story that I can't see in my minds eye, and I couldn't see the previous one. This one however, there are parts of it that are crystal clear and I know I'll own it. There are some tweaks to be done, but once this story is completed I'll send it to my editor. I've gotten in contact with a cover artist who is interested in the project, so hopefully we'll be able to put something together in the coming months.

I'll be taking a week long vacation in the middle of October, but I plan on bringing my laptop with me and doing some work in my off-time. That's right– my creative brain doesn't take vacations.

But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Cheers!

Amy
