Sunday Snippet: "I won't let you drift away."

http://www.wewriwa.com/

And we're back! I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas Eve/Day/Whatever you celebrated. I was very lucky with my gifts, which included the following...

Yup. Everything you need to know about me was just summed up in a single photo. Anyway, time to get back to the real reason you came by the blog: 8Sunday! My snippet for WeWriWa this week is still from my newest release, Dark Divinity, though in the new year I might change it up and start adding snippets for Crimson Sky. More on that later. For now, I'll leave you with a snippet from a scene that features our heroes Constance and Dro. A little similar to previous snippets, but all those Christmas songs are replaying in my head and the holiday season is all about bringing people together. In this scene, Dro is worried that she'll be lose her mind long before the archangels or Lucifer catch her. Constance assures her that won't be the case, but Dro knows her older sister, and that there are some battles that not even Constance is strong enough to win...

I shuffled closer to her. “I’ll keep you anchored to the real world, Dro. I won’t let you drift away. We’ll stop Lucifer.”
Dro flinched and shook her head, able to tell where my thought process was going. “You can’t do that, Constance. He’s too strong. You can’t fight him.”

While I had lofty goals for my stretch of the holidays, I ran into a couple non-Christmas related snags that kept me from getting as much done as I wanted. I'm currently working on editing my NaNoWriMo novel, Storm Born and remembering why I was dreading it. However *side note*, I'm soldiering on, and on the hunt for Beta/ARC readers. If you're interested and like urban fantasy/X-Men/old god myths/sexy knights, send me an email at amybraunauthor (at) gmail (dot) com.

That being said, I was thrilled to gain the incredible artwork for my February release, Crimson Sky. I managed to setup the preorders for Kindle, Kobo, and Smashwords, put the novel on Goodreads, as well as order the proof copy for the paperback. Since I'm still in the giving spirit, here's an awesome teaser image as well as the text for the first chapter of the book!

So, that's all happening! It's serious crunch time for this writer. I honestly have no idea what I'll be able to complete for the end of the year, but I'm just about to lock myself down to all distractions. I really want to get at least one major project accomplished today, since tomorrow I'm planning to cross off the last item from my Christmas To Do List: Go see Krampus. Because it's not a holiday for this writer if I'm not reading about vampires and watching some kind of monster movie.

Remember to check out the other WeWriWa blogs/websites and leave them some comments. We love to hear about our writing, but if you just want to swing by and wish us a happy new year, or just to say hi, we love that too! Cheers!

  1. I don't think there's any stopping them. Lucifer is going to be challenged. Good 8, Amy.

    1. Thank you! She is one of my toughest characters. I have to admit that I like putting her in sticky situations just to see how she gets out of them. ;)

  9. Ah, the age old battle between optimism and pessimism. Since bad things make for interesting reading, I know where I cast my vote! :)
