I've been crazily busy this week, but things have been going great! I've gotten a lot of goals accomplished and am getting ready for NaNoWriMo, as well as the upcoming release of Dark Divinity. This week's snippet for Weekend Writing Warriors continues from last week, with Constance and Warrick wondering where their preternatural ally has disappeared to, and how they could find him...
“Seph knows the risks better than
us. He also knows we can’t find him if he’s in trouble.”
Warrick
hesitated, then said, “Dro could.”
I
shot him a dark glance. Yes, my adopted sister could find our resident Seraphim
warrior by using supernatural skills that continued to confuse, amaze, and
terrify me. But I wasn’t going to ask her to do that. Not even for Sephiel. It
was too dangerous, especially now.
“We
can’t keep waiting for him,” I said, turning away from the window.
It occurs to me that there are just two more months until Dark Divinity is released. That means I have lots to do in terms of promotion. I've gotten some help, which will be huge– I just need to get organized. By the way, Weekend Warriors, 1) I'm now open for reviewing swaps/blog hops/guest post exchanges, and 2) if you're looking for some great reviewers, you seriously need to try One Book Two. They're the most professional reviewers I've worked with thus far, and they've helped a lot with promotions. They're the ones who suggested that I sign up for Authorgraph, which will let me sign any of my ebooks for anyone who wants one!
Right now, I'm playing around with a couple different series', essentially biding my time until I can start my NaNoWriMo novel and move onto another project. I'm going to be devoting a lot more time to marketing (good God, that will soak up so much time!) as well, which means that going to the Real Job is going to suuuuck.
Anyway, onto the fun stuff. I still have the contest for a signed paperback copy of That Hoodoo, Voodoo, That You Do for anyone who wants something creepy to read in time for Halloween. You can read the contest rules and enter at the bottom of this page. Trust me, some of these stories definitely fit the bill for horror– because not all of the monsters are supernatural.
And that's what's been going on! I'll have more details tomorrow for the weekly recap, but for now I'm just going to play around with some words and get ready to go see Crimson Peak, which I've wanted to see since I found out about its existence. Will I get inspired? You bet your ass I will! Hope you enjoy the final day of the weekend, and remember to visit the blogs of the other fantastic Weekend Writing Warriors to comment and leave your support. We love it!
Cheers!
Amy
Good luck with your upcoming release Amy! Well done!
ReplyDeleteToday's snippet is excellent. Just the right amount of worry and pragmatism.
Thank you so much! :D
DeleteNice tease! Very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love the tone and rhythm of this piece, Amy, very well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :)
DeleteOh! Super-hooky. I want to know more.
ReplyDeleteNext weeks 8Sunday will be more from the chapter. I'll probably keep it going for a while. ;)
DeleteNoooo Seph! Dont' be in trouble! Oh, what am I talking about. Your characters are always in trouble. I'm pretty sure that's what left of my cuticles will not survive this book. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha, oh are they ever. That's half the fun! Also, I make no promises about your cuticles. >:)
DeleteInteresting excerpt. I enjoyed the tone of the conversation and really want to meet this sister they're talking about!
ReplyDeleteThank you! She'll be in one of the next few snippets, and I have the first full chapter of DARK DIVINITY on the media/press page of my blog. :)
DeleteIntriguing implications of unspoken dangers.
ReplyDeleteAlways. ;)
DeleteIt's dangerous, but I don't think they'll have the choice of staying out of danger for too long. Life is never that easy for characters!
ReplyDeleteNope, never... but that's half the fun for writers! ;)
DeleteHmm. I suspect that by trying to avoid a problem she's creating a new problem.
ReplyDeleteWho? Constance? No, she would never do that... ;)
DeleteThis snippet inspires lots of questions--and I mean that in the best possible way. Good 8, Amy!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteIntriguing snippet! Dro's upernatural skills made me want to know more about her. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteoops.. supernatural skills :)
DeleteHaha thank you! I have the full first chapter on my press release/sample chapter page above. I also have a couple teaser photos that I'll be sharing on the blog over the next little while. Dro's definitely not someone you should brush off as insignificant. ;)
