Sunday Snippet: “I think it’s time for you to break...”

It's Sunday again, meaning it's time for another Weekend Writing Warrior post! Which means you get to read 8-10 sentences from my current work in progress, Trick of the Gods. Last week, we met Derek's partner in crime, Liam, as the two prepared to take the fight to a Heritor– a descendant of the Greek Titans. The games are coming to an end, and Derek is getting ready for the real game to start...

Nothing in a world calmed me like a good fight did. And I was ready to end this one. It was becoming hard to hold back the Rage.
“I don’t think so,” growled the Heritor, who hadn’t heard a word of the conversation through the bond. His dark eyes blazed. “I think it’s time for you to break.”
The massive man lunged for me, both hands aimed at my throat. I crouched low, bunching the muscles in my legs, waiting for the last minute.

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I'm having with this book. It hasn't been completely smooth sailing– is that even possible when you've started re-vamping the entire series, which has three stories written and countless scenes you've attached yourself irrevocably to?– but I'm loving this book more and more. It's becoming longer than originally planned, but it's by no means a slow-paced book. This might cause each book in the Areios Brothers series to become longer in their own right, but you won't find me complaining about that. The words just flow so easily when I write about Derek and Liam's adventures and terrible, terrible, terrible luck.

That being said, I'm keeping an eye on my other projects as well. The edits for the Demon's Daughter sequel– Dark Divinity are done, and my cover art is scheduled to be completed in mid October. So far away, alas, but I'm getting a ton of art for swag this time around. I'm super excited about the package I bought from Deranged Doctor Design and can't wait to share it.

I'm also going to prepare my upcoming Dark Sky trilogy. My editor is ready to go and I should be hearing back from the Beta Reader soon. I'm super excited/nervous to see what the thoughts on it will be. I've heard good feedback so far, but I know there will be a lot to do.

And that's basically all for now! I have a few more ideas coming along for this year's NaNoWriMo project– I'll give you a few hints: It involves the Fae, and is tentatively called Resurrection Roulette unless I come up with something better– and will begin planning it in detail soon.

Remember to give love to the other very talented Weekend Writing Warrior authors by leaving comments on their blogs and websites. Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers,

Amy

  4. I love that first line: 'Nothing in a world calmed me like a good fight did.' It goes a long way toward characterizing your hero.

  5. I don't think his opponent will enjoy the Rage when it breaks free, but he is rather bringing it upon himself.
