Sunday Snippet

As I continue to work on the next round of edits for Crimson Sky, I've decided to put together a couple prequel novellas for the secondary characters to re-familiarize myself with the world and the people in it. First up is Nash's story... In this snippet, he's just won a two on one battle in he fighting pit known as the Crater for his pirate master. He comes back to his room and finds his reward– a naked woman named Sonya– waiting in his bed. But Nash dreams of a real connection, something he may never have in his current situation...

“I’ll take care of it,” I grumbled. “Not the first time I’ve had to. You can stay here for another ten minutes if you want. Just put some clothes on.”
Reaching into the crate, I took out a moderately clean cloth, dabbed it in the water, and rubbed off the dirt and extra blood. I heard the sheets rustle behind me. Sonya’s slow sigh as she pulled on her clothes.
“You know it won’t get any better, right?” she said.

So this snippet is a little out of context, but I liked how it unfolded. I'm shooting for around 40K with these novellas, and I still have to finish the storyline, but I think it will be a lot of fun. I'm really getting back into the series and should have it done in a couple weeks, along with the Crimson Sky edits. There will also be news on the Cursed: Demon's Daughter cover by next week. I've seen the first draft, and it looks pretty damn cool! I also have plans for the Avast, Ye Airships! contest, so stay tuned for that coming in May! Hint– You'll want to get creative with this one.

Don't forget to check out the other talented WeWriWa authors and leave them some love! Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

  1. Aw, he's a romantic! Though I'm sure he finds the current situation sorely trying. He should have been rewarded with chocolate. :-)

  2. Ten minutes? He's not trying to put on a very impressive showing for anyone who notices when she leaves... I think he should talk to her. He can't have a connection without getting to know people!

    1. This is true, and it's just a general snippet of the situation. Nash doesn't have many decent people in his company, but he wants to change that.

  3. I don't think he's truly interested in a real connection with her. He seems interested in other matters.
