Years In Review: 2014 Vs 2015

For me, 2014 was a year of expansion. I set out to achieve some high goals, and can honestly say that I was amazed with how much I accomplished. I wrote three full length novels, had seven short stories accepted by professional publishers, won an Editors Award, received my stories in print, and wrote a whopping 1,049,442 words. I took part in blog tours and got a better idea of how to market myself. I even signed a book for a fan! Despite the pitfalls of writers block and rejection, this was an amazing year for me. I'm not sure how 2015 will top it!

That being said, I do have plans. Not only will I give the Areios Brothers a better treatment, I'll be releasing Path of the Horseman and Cursed in the next few months. I intend to finish my Dark Sky trilogy and try to have it published by a professional company, and will continue my Blood Moon series for the blog. By the end of the year/NaNoWriMo, I'm hoping to start another brand new series. Not sure which one yet, but I'd like to knock another series off my list.

I'll also be taking a deeper look into the business end of publishing. While I will submit to publishers and agents and open submissions, I'm trying to maintain a realistic attitude. My mind would be blown to Saturn if a story of mine was accepted by a publisher or agent, but I'm not expecting it to happen. And I'm okay with that. It gives me a chance to further hone my skills, try new techniques, and build a more independent audience. I'd like to have the readership on the blog double by the end of 2015.

Now that I've more or less got my foot into the door of the writing world, I want to keep growing. By next week I'll be looking for open submission calls and creating new stories that will hopefully boost my newbie status. I'm really excited to see what I can achieve this year. It'll be a roller coaster that I can't wait to get on.

Best wishes in the new year!

Amy
