This is going to be a bare-bones post coming on Saturday, since I just came off an 11 hour shift sorting, folding, and lifting laundry. There's nowhere I don't hurt, and I have another shift today. This week's 8Sunday snippet for Weekend Writing Warriors comes from Damnation's Door. Last week, Constance was confronted with deadly Possessors. But those beings are not her only enemy...
“What are you
doing here, Drake?” I growled.
He laughed. It
was an awful, rasping noise. His black eyes met mine, the same way they had
when he stabbed me twice and left me to die. I blocked out the memory, keeping
away the phantom pain of a knife sliding into my stomach and ribs.
“Had to pick
something up for the boss,” he said mockingly. “You can imagine how fussy he
is.”

Demons are free. Angels are fallen. Hope is dying...
Constance Ramirez and her adopted sister, Andromeda, have stopped Lucifer’s plan– They have closed the Heaven Gate and kept the demons out. But their choice came with brutal consequences, and now every angel on earth is trapped in their mortal body.
All that remains is closing the Hell Gate and establishing a balance once and for all. That means returning to the city of Constance’s nightmares, which has become a haven for murderers and monsters. But even more dangerous than their hunt is that Andromeda’s powers and instincts are turning darker, and this time Constance doesn’t know how to protect her.
Constance is ready to fight for her life, but her enemies have plans she can’t begin to imagine, and they’re prepared to make her suffer...
Trust is lost and hearts are broken in the epic conclusion in Amy Braun’s Cursed trilogy...

I wish I had the energy to talk more about the Midnight Sky synopsis or the special guest post I featured this week, but honestly, I am beyond exhausted. I've never worked 11 hours at the Real Job and will never do it again. Now I finally know how all my characters feel after I put them through hand-to-hand-combat. Monday's post will feature more information on upcoming work, sign-ups, and goodies!
Be sure to leave some love and comments with the other talented WeWriWa authors! Cheers!
Amy
My, my, she knows all sorts of interesting people!
ReplyDeleteHaha, yes she does. ;)
DeleteVery visceral, Amy! That they have to put up with Drake, raises a lot of interesting questions.
ReplyDeleteI hope you kicked laundry-butt today. Sending light and energy from Africa xxx
It'll get more intense from here, believe me. And honestly, I'm not going to put in as much effort today. If something doesn't get done... oh well! ;) Thank you!
DeleteSo much tension! Somethings got to break it, and I have a feeling Constance is not going to like what he has to pick up for his boss. Maybe her?
ReplyDeleteI hope your shift goes fast today!
Oh, no, not at all... >:) And thank you!
DeleteJust wonderful. I love the way you express your characters. best of luck.
ReplyDeleteIs there anyone who isn't Con's enemy? :-) I'm getting close to the end, though I have no cuticles left to shred.
ReplyDeleteI've done a fair amount of manual work in my time and commercial laundry was the hardest. It's truly a full-body workout. Hope today is tolerable!
There are a handful, and you've met all of them haha. Good to know I'm doing my job as an author, and today was tolerable indeed. :)
DeleteIntense excerpt today, enjoyed the details about her blocking her memories. Great snippet! I worked at a dry cleaner's for a year after high school, so I sympathize!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I indulged in pizza and ice cream, so I feel much better now. :D
DeleteSolid description and tone, Amy, I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteTension just keeps mounting! Great scene.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHe loves to scare them. I hope they have something in reserve to fight back.
ReplyDeleteOh you have no idea how nasty he us. They're in for quite the confrontation. ;)
DeleteYeah, run, don't walk away from that guy. He's creepy.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not someone you want to meet in a dark alley alone. Trust me.
DeleteWow, only a few sentences in and I already hate this guy. Excellent, descriptive writing!
ReplyDeleteHaha wow, and that's not even the worst thing he's ever said! Thanks! ;)
DeleteTension filled snippet. I really don't liked that guy.
ReplyDeleteHe's not really a people person. ;)
DeleteBare bones? That was intense! I'm really hating Drake.
ReplyDelete~Joyce Scarbrough
