Sunday Snippet: "Maybe I'm being nice..."

Trick of the Gods continues to come along smoothly. I had a couple hiccups, but I'm not going to worry about them until I finish this draft. The plot line came together really well, and I can't wait to arrive at the next scene. So, as promised for this week's 8Sunday snippet for Weekend Writing Warriors, I'll be continuing exactly from where I left off last week, with main character Derek appearing to be down on his luck against an enemy that is almost twice his size. But Derek knows something the Heritor doesn't know...

But it’s easy to let him think he has the upper hand.
“Thought you war-scions were tougher than this,” the Heritor taunted. “Guess Ares’ blood is thinner than water.”
I grinned, gripping the sword tight in my hands. “Maybe.” I got to my feet, ignoring the pain from my battered body. “Maybe I’m being nice and taking it easy on you for the first round.”
The Heritor laughed, and I let him. It wasn’t my fault he wouldn't believe the truth when he heard it.

I can't tell you how much fun it is to write this story. I'm always thinking about it and I really can't wait to plan the next adventure and learn about this new world I made. I think it's really cool and can't wait for the end result.

Speaking of end result, I have a favor to ask some of the WeWriWa writers, especially if you like steampunk. Since I want to begin releasing my new trilogy Dark Sky early next year, I'm looking for Beta readers and professional/semi-professional editors for the first novel, Crimson Sky, as well as the two sequels and two prequel novellas. I'm flexible with dates, and am willing to offer free Beta reading and reviews in exchange. If you're seriously interested, email me at amybraunauthor (at) gmail (dot) com so we can go over the details. If you're not interested, but know someone who might be, please shoot me their email address so I can contact them. Thanks, Warriors!

Everyone else coming by the blog today, thanks for stopping by, and remember to give the authors at WeWriWa some love. They've earned it!

Cheers!

Amy

  1. I have a feeling someone's about to get a beatin'! :-) Isn't it great when a story is fun? It makes it easy to write when you can't wait to get back to it.

  7. Have you ever seen The Princess Bride? "I'm not left-handed!"

This guy clearly can't imagine going easy on someone... which is his loss.

  8. Someone is about to go a-pummeling. He's going to find out that his preconceived notions can steer him very off-track.
